The need to publicise the high standards of British farming and food production to the outside world has led Will Evans to enter the world of social media,writing regular columns for The Farmers ' Weekly and Guardian and appearing recently on 'Adam's Farm for the BBC's Countryfile .
This has grown alongside a busy life at Lower Eyton Farm producing cereals, beef cattle and free range blue eggs available through Clarence Court.
Will produces PODCASTS which are the audio version of a downloadable document or photograph(.The word podcast is an amalgam of the word ipod and the verb to broadcast.)
If you google 'The rock and roll farmer ' they come up easily and you can soon choose a subject and be listening to farming topics from all over the world, just like radio only more specialised to your interests .
If you have a smart phone there is an app already on there which looks like a purple microphone which can connect you from your phone.
The common language of food production enables all these diverse stories to be relevant to everyone, from the Masai tribesman, Tate with his iphone (apparently the 4G signal he gets in Africa is much better than is available in the Welsh borders!) to the Ukranian farmer who has to 'negotiate'(/bribe) his pathway to producing grain from a 300,000 acre holding to rival the USA.
I think it is vital that we continue to produce our own food in this country and to have the choice of our own higher standards of welfare and production . I want to be able to buy locally produced food which has the reduced use of antibiotics and growth hormones, and eat meat which is not fed on soya which has been grown on land which was rain forest. To be able to choose food which has come from local communities which can continue to thrive in the countryside and help to maintain its beauty through conservation. These are the sort of conversations to be found from the rock and roll farmer.
Another topic Will has to deal with is the 67% increase in in the figures for TB in North East Wales.
A future interview will be with author Chris Moon whose book 'One Step Beyond' details his time in the marines where he lost a leg mine sweeping . He now advises on agricultural projects across the world.
